Evil Star

Kia ora my name is Calvin Spain. I am a New Zealand based artist, currently living in Wellington. I have a bachelor’s degree in concept design, and am proficient in digital painting, sketching, physical sculpting, silicon mould making and general craft. I love to go sit in a café and do a bit of sketching, usually planning out larger more ambitious artworks. I like to make art that is driven by interesting narratives. If the narrative informs the design that’s perfect.

Evil Star studios is the name I go by when I’m sculpting little miniatures for tabletop and role-playing games. It’s a great feeling when I can turn a drawing into a physical miniature, that can then be used for telling stories through games. For Evil Star I do miniature sculpting and casting. And I make tabletop terrain pieces.
